Senior Wireless Systems Algorithm Engineer

Overview

Noema focuses on unlocking hidden capacity in wireless networks, helping operators and enterprises achieve greater performance and efficiency from existing infrastructure. The company develops advanced software and integration solutions that optimize network usage, reliability, and scalability. By combining deep technical expertise with practical deployment experience, Noema addresses complex connectivity challenges in real-world environments. Team members work on innovative projects that contribute directly to improving wireless communication and user experiences.

Position Description

We are looking for a Senior Wireless Systems Algorithm Engineer to help us bring this technology into commercial-grade 5G RAN systems. You will work at the heart of turning a breakthrough algorithm into real-world, deployable infrastructure, integrating advanced MIMO signal processing into live RAN platforms and helping define the engineering foundations the company will build on as it scales toward 6G, NTN and defence-grade deployments.

This is a key technical role within a small, fast-moving team, working in close collaboration with the founding technical team, algorithm researchers and hardware engineers, with direct influence over how the technology is implemented, tested and proven in the field.

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of the PHY signal processing chain for 5G systems and beyond, with prior hands-on experience designing PHY processing algorithms and related architectures

  • Deep understanding of MIMO, massive MIMO, and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems for 5G and beyond, and the corresponding signal processing techniques

  • Deep understanding of non-linear detection/decoding techniques (e.g., sphere decoding, ML/MAP detection) and their complexity-performance tradeoffs

  • Strong knowledge of advanced channel coding and decoding techniques and the associated signal processing

  • Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art Medium Access Control (MAC) and resource allocation techniques

  • Familiarity with Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) / satellite (LEO, D2D) signal processing challenges

  • Comfort working in a patent-generating R&D environment, or prior experience filing/contributing to patents

  • Very strong coding skills (e.g., C, MATLAB)

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience with wireless research platforms (e.g., USRPs)

  • Working knowledge of 5G NR • Understanding of the current and future challenges in 5G and Open RAN systems

  • Experience with hardware and/or software implementation of digital signal processing algorithms in real-time systems

  • Experience contributing to or engaging with standards bodies (3GPP, O-RAN Alliance, IEEE)

  • GPU/CUDA acceleration experience for signal processing workloads

  • Comfort operating in an early-stage, resource-constrained spin-out environment

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on cutting-edge wireless communications technology with proven, trial-validated performance gains.

  • A key technical role within a growing deep-tech startup, with real influence over product direction.

  • Close collaboration with leading researchers and industry partners.

  • The opportunity to help shape the future direction of our products and technology as the company scales toward 6G, NTN and defence markets.
